Branch Rickey was Dodger president from 1942-1950 and an equal 25 percent stockholder of the Dodgers along with partners Walter O’Malley and John L. Smith from 1945-1950. Rickey invented the modern farm system in baseball and, with approval from Dodger ownership, signed Jackie Robinson, the first Black player in the modern era of baseball.
