Autographed, Replica of bronze plaque presented on November 1, 1956 by the Dodgers at Hiroshima Stadium
1956
This is a replica of the commemorative bronze plaque that the Dodgers presented for the entrance of Hiroshima Stadium on November 1, 1956. The original plaque is still displayed in a public place at Mazda Zoom Zoom Stadium in Hiroshima. Accompanying the replica plaque are original autographs of the Dodgers and members of the traveling party in attendance at the presentation. Several members of the Dodgers, who were later inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, signed the placard including Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Gil Hodges, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, Don Drysdale, Manager Walter Alston, Coach Billy Herman and President Walter O’Malley. It was O’Malley who wrote this inscription on the bronze plaque: “We dedicate this visit in memory of those baseball fans and others who here died by atomic action on August 6, 1945. May their souls rest in peace and with God’s help and man’s resolution peace will prevail forever, amen.”
