Dr. Bob Smith, International Baseball Association (IBA) President, invited Dodger President Peter O’Malley to throw the ceremonial first pitch prior to the USA vs. Cuba game, July 29, 1992 during the baseball competition at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. It was the first time that baseball was officially recognized as an Olympic medal sport. Dr. Smith is the batter and the catcher from Cuba (No. 2) is Alberto Hernandez.

General Jyong-Chul Suh, the first Baseball Commissioner of the Korea Baseball Organization, invited Annette O’Malley (Mrs. Peter) to throw the ceremonial first pitch October 7, 1984. That was before Game 6 of the Korea Series at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. The Lotte Giants defeated the Samsung Lions in seven games.

On April 10, 1962, on the invitation of her husband Walter, Kay O’Malley threw the ceremonial first pitch from behind the Dodgers dugout with son Peter by her side on Opening Day at Dodger Stadium. A sellout crowd of 52,564 enthusiastically watched the Dodgers’ debut in their new stadium.
