Milton Richman of United Press writes that Walter O’Malley can’t wait for the new season to begin. “We’re shooting everything in 1952,” said O’Malley. “We shall try to leave nothing to chance. Our club never has won a World Series, you know. That’s what we hope to achieve next year. May sound trite, but all of us in the Brooklyn organization know the only thing we can do is wait until next year. Actually, there is little else we can do. We thought we had it this year, but we were wrong (when the Dodgers lost to the New York Giants in a playoff series for the National League Pennant two games to one). The only time I’ll feel safe is when we have a 13 1/2 game lead with only 13 games to go. If anything, I’ve become less of a baseball fan since taking over for Mr. (Branch) Rickey.
