This Day in Walter O’Malley History:
-
Walter O’Malley graduates from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree and as Senior Class President of 1,700 students at the 170th Commencement Exercises held at Penn’s Weightman Hall. O’Malley spoke as Salutatorian of the seniors on their Class Day on Tuesday, June 15. O’Malley was a member of the Theta Delta Chi Fraternity and the Friars Senior Society. Election to the Friars Society is one of the highest honors the undergraduate at Penn may receive. The official University press release states, “Further evidence of the high regard in which the Amityville man was held by his fellow students was given in his elevation to the presidency of the class (for the second straight year) which was one of the strongest and most active in University affairs ever graduated at Pennsylvania.”
-
Walter O’Malley travels to Philadelphia to greet old friends at the 25th Reunion of the University of Pennsylvania class of 1926. O’Malley was the junior (1924-25) and senior (1925-26) class president at Penn, the first two-time president there in 25 years.
