At the 1956 Long Island Dodger Boosters Dinner in the Garden City Hotel, Walter O’Malley’s keynote address focuses on the need for a new stadium in Brooklyn. “We need the new stadium to keep the Dodgers in Brooklyn and we need your support to get it.” Dodger MVP catcher Roy Campanella told the audience how he prayed the Dodgers would win the seventh game of the 1955 World Series. “I never prayed before like I did those last three innings in that seventh game. If anybody could ever pray, pitch and catch, I did.”1

At a testimonial dinner by the Masquers Club of Hollywood honoring Casey Stengel, Walter O’Malley is one of the featured speakers, poking fun at the popular former Dodger player and manager. Actor Pat Buttram served as dinner emcee.
