Steve Garvey

I met him first (at Vero Beach) when I was seven or eight. He always patted me on the head. When I got to the Dodgers, I would try to drop by and say hello, maybe learn something. He built the most successful sports franchise in the world and had a tremendous influence on baseball. That’s a testimony to his strength. We were so much richer for having known him and so much poorer for having lost him.
