He was a great humanitarian with a tremendous sense of humor who was greatly respected by his peers. At any baseball meeting, whenever Mr. O’Malley spoke, you could hear a pin drop. What I remember most, though, is his sense of humor; that glint in his eye, that Irish laughter. He was a great jokester and needler. He was a winner, who enjoyed winning, and he had great success. He was also the person responsible for making the Dodgers a family. He never said a harsh word, but he could motivate. He had this magnetism that everyone recognized and he wasn’t afraid to make a bold move, like moving the team from Brooklyn to Los Angeles.
