At its annual business meeting, the Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles elects Walter O’Malley to the Board of Directors.

Walter O’Malley writes a letter to Walt Disney inviting him to visit new Dodger Stadium. O’Malley says, “if you would like to come up and go over the layout with me, I’d be delighted to get your reactions, good and bad.” Dodger front office personnel also went to Disneyland to observe operations and study its customer service in preparation for the opening of Dodger Stadium.

For the first time, Dodger Stadium is used for a football field. The National Football League’s Western Conference All-Star Team uses Dodger Stadium for workouts in preparation for the Pro Bowl Game played in Los Angeles on January 16, 1966. Among the Football Hall of Fame players on the team were quarterbacks Bart Starr and Johnny Unitas; running back Gale Sayers; tight end John Mackey; offensive lineman Forrest Gregg; defensive linemen Willie Davis, Merlin Olsen, Deacon Jones; linebackers Dick Butkus and Dave Wilcox; and defensive backs Herb Adderley and Willie Wood.
