Cartoonist Pete Bentovoja does a lighthearted view of the rivalry between the Angels and the Dodgers in 1962. Walter O’Malley, drawn as “Union General Ulysses O’Malley” is shown contending with “Confederates” Angels’ owner Gene Autry, pitcher Bo Belinsky, and Belinsky’s friend of the moment, actress Mamie Van Doren. In fact, Autry stated that no one was more supportive of the American League’s expansion to Los Angeles in 1961 than Dodger President Walter O’Malley and the two teams shared Dodger Stadium from 1962 to 1965.
