 The short lived, but highly-publicized issue of the lack of drinking fountains at the opening of Dodger Stadium allowed cartoonist Karl Hubenthal to have a little fun at Walter O’Malley’s expense. With literally hundreds of issues involved in the opening of a new stadium, O’Malley and Dodger officials overlooked the use of public drinking fountains. The controversy was noisy, but of little duration, and fans quickly realized how beautiful and comfortable the new stadium would be for them.
