Bud Holman was a prominent business leader in Vero Beach, Florida and he introduced the Dodgers to land which had been acquired by the city after World War II, the former U.S. Naval Air Station. In 1948, the Dodgers turned the land and existing barracks into Dodgertown, their spring training home for the next 60 years. In 1953, Holman Stadium was named to honor him.
